Legends Poetry         

WELCOME to our Home Page!

This website is dedicated to the Legends Poetry series.  There are currently 2 books in publication: 

• A Poetic Tribute to the Young'uns Who Lunched with Oprah
• A Poetic Tribute to the Legends Who Lunched with Oprah 

These books were inspired by Oprah’s Legends Luncheon which was held in 2005.  The first is a book of poetry that also outlines the history of the 25 women that Oprah designated as Legends – women who through their struggle have laid a path for the many women who have followed them over the years.  The second book reflects the history of women who benefited from the work of the Legends - the Young'uns.  The second book contains poems dedicated to 20 of the Young'uns who were invited to participate in the weekend's festivities.

When you read each poem, the achievements and struggles of each woman have been uniquely captured.  We were not able to include all of their accomplishments.  However, we hope that we provided enough insight into each of these women to make the reader want to research them even further.

We hope that you enjoy the poetry and more importantly we hope that you learn something along the way. 

Who We Are

Cassandra Leach-Woods and Revonne Leach-Johnson are the authors.   We are co-authors and sisters.   Poetry has been a natural hobby of ours.   It has been of great service to us when we wanted to present a special joy, surprise or gift to someone.   We share the belief that a poem whose content is dedicated solely to a specific individual is one of the greatest gift that one could give.
